Computer Technology in Transportation

First of all, the use of computers in transportation has been  expose over the past decade. Vehicles and transportation infrastructure use all types of electronic computational components like application specific standard processors (ASSPs), systems-on-chips (SoCs), single board computers (SBCs), and fully integrated large-scale systems has been use to ease human task.

There a choice dependent on many variables but is primarily driven by size, weight and power.
Usually computer board- and system-level products are most often used in larger vehicles such as ships, trains, planes or heavy trucks.

They are also used widely throughout various parts of the supporting infrastructures and intelligent highway systems. Commercially available products are also used in prototyping and low unit-volume production while vehicle-specific designs are used in high unit-volume deployments.

The use of computer in transportation can give us many benefit such as on board communication and navigation systems which is very popular at this time. Beside that its also help in routes navigation systems that monitor and control movements to provide increased safety.

Other information that I get ,computers in transportation also can be use for entertaiment systems such as providing music, video and gaming systems. We can see nowadays there a lot of media facilities in buses , lrt and so on.

There are many more uses of computers in transportation like intelligent highway infrastructure including electronic toll collection ,emergency vehicle notification systems ,automatic road enforcement with red light and speed cameras ,variable speed limits, collision avoidance sysytems, dynamic trafic light sequencing and many other capabilities.

It also can be use to help monitoring system for temperature ,pressures, flow rates ,level changes and so forth. In addition ,it can cargo managment system including cargo booking ,shipping order processing ,dispatching ,payment, gate operation procedures, check in/out,facility location planning and monitoring processes.
